STEPHEN N. SUMNER

Stephen Nolan Sumner passed away Tuesday night at Wake Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a long battle with illnesses.
Steve was born in Clinton to the late Samuel Norwood Sumner and Romelle Wells Sumner.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Norwood Sumner, and sister, Dixie Lavice Knowles.
Steve loved his three girls who are his true love and wife of 40 years, Judy Gale Sumner; his precious daughters, Stephanie Sumner Lane of Goldsboro and Victoria "Tori" Sumner of Goldsboro; two grandchildren he adored, Kristen and Tyler Lane; a sister, Carolyn S. Naylor and husband, Donnie, of Roseboro; brothers, Randy "Buck" Sumner and wife, Sarah, of Huntsville, Ala., and Jack Sumner and wife, Joyce, of Florida; several special nieces and nephews; and special adopted sisters and brothers in Christ, Pat and Pete Smith, Judy and Rod Mallery and Jenny Faucette.
Steve loved his Lord and his church family at Love Memorial Baptist Church, where a service to celebrate Steve's life will be held Thursday at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Richard Toler and the Rev. Dick Westbrook officiating.
Family members will greet friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service and at other times will be at the home.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
