JOYCE WILKINS JACOBS

Mrs. Joyce Wilkins Jacobs, 65, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Joyce" of 1809 Laurel St., departed her earthly life peacefully on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 4, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, 1005 S. John St. Apostle Lawrence Bogier II will officiate. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery South, 2925 S. US 117 Hwy., Dudley.
Also, a public viewing will be held today, June 3, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist, 900 S. George St., from 2 until 6 p.m., with the family present to receive friends and other family members from 5 until 6 p.m.
Joyce was born in Wayne County on Oct. 31, 1946, to the late Mary Austin Wilkins and Charles R. Wilkins Sr.
A son, Troy Anthony Jacobs, preceded her in death.
She was educated in the public schools of Wayne County and graduated from Dillard High School in the Class of 1965.
As a young lady, she met, dated and married Mr. Kennon Jacobs and to this union five children were born.
Joyce was employed with the O'Berry Center, where she retired.
Mrs. Jacobs leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories her husband, Kennon Jacobs; a son, Marcus Devon Jacobs of Charlotte; three daughters, Mia Renee Whitley and husband, Maurice, of High Point; Crystal De'Ann Jacobs of Atlanta, Ga., Captain (US Air Force) Amber Desiree' Jacobs of Sumter, S.C.; four sisters, Shirley Grandy and husband, Ervin, and Marian Wilkins, Gloria Wilkins and Mary Teachey, all of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Bria Marie Whitley and Anthony Maurice Whitley Jr. of High Point; one sister-in-law, Queen Esther of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relates and friends.
The family will assemble at the residence, 1809 Laurel St., one hour prior to the funeral at 9:50 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
