Frederick Allen Wynn, a soldier of the Lord, marched on home Feb. 15, 2012.
A visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, from 4 until 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, 401 N. William St., Goldsboro. A celebration of life will be held at St. James Church of Christ at 2 p.m. at 603 W. Spruce St. Following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Wynn's delicate temple, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Winn Cemetery for interment rites.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1948, to the late Gertrude and Douglas Wynn. He was raised in Wayne County.
He worked for Georgia Pacific for 22 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. James Church of Christ in Goldsboro under the leadership of Pastor V.J. Hairston.
Frederick always had a joyful and pleasant smile. Frederick gave his life to Christ many years ago, and serving and praising the Lord was his passion. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with his family; especially his nieces. He had special names for his nieces, for example: Aisha Wynn was "Cold-train Iceberg Wynn"; it was moments and times like these that made his life joyful and full of happiness.
Frederick leaves to cherish his loving memories Dorothy Blake Wynn of Goldsboro; one stepson, Earl Blake of Goldsboro; two sisters, Kay Frances Wynn of Goldsboro and Darlene Wynn of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Leroy Wynn of Florida and Wonnie Wynn of Goldsboro; four sisters-in-law; one aunt; several uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mr. Wynn's earthen vessel is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, where the Wynn and connected families are receiving prestigious service.
