BENJAMIN "BEN" EARL BECTON

LAGRANGE -- Benjamin "Ben" Earl Becton, 57, 102 W. James St., died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at home.
A native of Lenoir County, he was born Oct. 26, 1955, the son of Mrs. Glenneth Becton.
He was a graduate of North Lenoir High School in Kinston. He furthered his education at Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
After graduating from college, he was employed at Caswell Rehabilitation Center as an occupational therapy assistant for more than 30 years.
He was a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and a member of Living Hope Masonic Lodge No. 507.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church in LaGrange, with Dr. Joe N. Dixon officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.
He is survived by four sisters, Dr. Wilma Troublefield and Hazel McPhail of LaGrange, Mrs. Lannie (Hildreth) Best of Fort Washington, Md., and Dr. Velma (Booker) Richardson of Auburn, Ala., and four brothers, John (Barbara) Becton of Grifton, Dennis and Edward (Mertie) Becton of Fort Washington, Md., and Stanley (Patricia) Becton of New York, N.Y.
Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, from 6 to 7 p.m. at St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church in LaGrange, with a wake from 7 to 8 p.m.
Arrangements are by Mitchell's Funeral Home LLC in Greenville.
