PHYLLIS BLANCHE LONG SHADDING

Mrs. Phyllis Blanche Long Shadding, 75, 512 Todd Drive, Goldsboro, was born and educated in the public schools of Philadelphia, Pa., and graduated from Harlem School of Nursing in New York, N.Y. She furthered her studies through Shaw University and Bear Creek Academy.
She was administrative director of the American Institute of Design (med-aid division) in Philadelphia and, upon moving to Goldsboro, she became administrative assistant at Bear Creek and Antioch Disciple Training Institute.
A homegoing service for Mrs. Shadding will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 601 W. Elm St., Goldsboro. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Tate, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 U.S. 70 West, Princeton.
Mrs. Shadding will lie in state Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at the chapel. The family will also receive friends each day after 3 p.m. at the residence.
Thursday at 10 a.m., all family and friends riding in the procession will meet at 512 Todd Drive in Mimosa Park subdivision.
She is survived by her loving husband, deacon Leonard Shadding Sr.; a son, Leonard Ralph (Helen) Shadding of Clarksville, Tenn.; a daughter, Alice Laverne S. Houston of Philadelphia, Pa.; three granddaughters; two grandsons; a great-grandson; brothers and sisters-in-law, including Frederick (Katherine) Shadding and Emma (Walter Ray) Fennell of Goldsboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Shadding 's services have been entrusted to Hamilton Funeral Chapel Inc. 423 S. James St., Goldsboro.
