Elizabeth Killette Phipps, 86, went to be with the Lord Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Phipps was born in Wayne County July 13, 1925, to the late Gilbert Killette and Mary Hepsie Parks Killette. She was married to the late James Edward Phipps.
Mrs. Phipps was a seamstress who had worked with Barry of Goldsboro for 12 years and Lori Manufacturing for 17 years.
Throughout her life, she exemplified things most dear to her heart through words and deeds.
Mrs. Phipps will forever be remembered for her faithful service to her Lord and savior, her beloved family and her church.
She also enjoyed cooking for others and caring for the elderly.
Mrs. Phipps was a member of Clingman Street Church of God for 44 years, and a charter member of United in Christ Church, where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Phipps life will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at 7 p.m. at United In Christ Church, with the Rev. Ira Williford and the Rev. Glenn Mills officiating. Interment will be Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Phipps is survived by her sons, Larry James Phipps and wife, Janet, of Mount Olive and Wiley Chris Phipps and wife, Mary, of Goldsboro; her daughters, Anna P. Gardner and husband, Thedie, of Goldsboro and Diane P. Harrison and husband, Tom, of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Jay Phipps and wife, Dianne, April Mills and husband, Glenn, Jeff Henderson and wife, Liza, Melissa Phipps, Barry Phipps, Melody Phipps and Halye Phipps; six stepgrandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brothers, James Killette and wife, Daisy, of Dudley, Roby Killette and wife, Sybil, Ray Killette and wife, Brenda, and Morris Killette and wife, Cathy, all of LaGrange, and her sisters-in-law, Shirley Killette and Addie Killette both of LaGrange and Jane Pruitt and husband, Harley, of Portsmouth, Va.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Reese Killette and Wayne Killette, and her sister, Mary Rachel Smith.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, from 6 to 7 p.m. and immediately following the service at United In Christ, and other times at the home of Diane and Tom Harrison, 301 S. Cottonwood Drive, Goldsboro.
