Died Oct. 27, 2011
PIKEVILLE -- Rufus Emmitte "Scotty" Scott passed away Thursday at his home in Pikeville.
Mr. Scott was a retired farmer.
His love of the land and watching things grow was surpassed only by the joys of his life, his grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at 3 p.m. in Purvis-Scott Family Cemetery on Hooks Road, with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Howell Scott, and his father, Emmitte Scott.
Scotty is survived by his wife, Connie Waller Scott of the home; his children, Jamie Scott and Amy Shivar of White Lake, Kathy Tyndall and husband, Dwight, of Pikeville and Danny Scott and wife, Cody, also of Pikeville; grandchildren, Douglas and Hunter Scott; stepgrandchildren, Jamye and Jessica Tyndall; and great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Tyndall.
He is also survived by his sisters, Ann Oldham and husband, Tom, of Vass and Vicki Lancaster and Pennie Scott of Pikeville.; his nieces, Sarah McAuley of Savannah, Ga., Emily Oldham of Vass and Misti Howell of Pikeville; and nephews, Jason and Jonathan Howell.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
