Dottie Ellis Underwood, 70, died Sunday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Joe Tom Ellis and Pauline Cannon Ellis, and wife of the late Thomas J. Underwood Sr.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas J. Underwood Jr., two brothers, Wayne Ellis and Joe Tom Ellis; and two sisters, Lois E. Faison and Tootsie Allen.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Family members will greet friends Wednesday at the grave following the service, and at other times will be at the home of her son, Glen and Rita Ferguson, 143 Old Vineyard Road, Goldsboro.
Mrs. Underwood is survived by her sons, Ted Gray Underwood and wife, Judy, and Glen Wayne Ferguson and wife, Rita; two sisters, Mabel Allen and Claudia Spence; five grandchildren, Wendy U. Kelly, Chris Underwood, T.J. Underwood III, Brandon Ferguson and LeeAnne Ferguson; and five great-grandchildren, Stormy Kelly, Danielle Ferguson, Tyler Underwood, Sawyer Underwood and Savannah Kelly, and her best friend, Joann.
