TSGT. LESTER "LES" L. SANTEE
April 28, 1935-July 10, 2011
Retired Air Force Technical Sgt. Lester "Les" L. Santee, husband of Ruby Sheppard Santee for 54-plus years, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, July 10, 2011.
Lester was born in Diamond, W. Va., the son of the late Samuel and Jesse Santee, April 28, 1935.
During his military career, Les served in Korea and Vietnam.
In addition to his love for his family, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed competitive play. He participated in many charity tournaments. He achieved several holes-in-one, but was most proud of his coveted double eagle.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Penny Ziemer officiating.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Teresa Santee (Jack) Almendarez; three grandchildren, Eric, Tony and Jamie; two great-grandchildren, Ariah and Tavin; three sisters, Stella and Bessie of West Virginia and Pearl of Tennessee; and a special sister-in-law, Margaret of Red Springs, N.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lauren Santee Page, and several brothers and sisters.
His family wishes to thank his physicians and many health care providers of Southeastern Medical Oncology Center and Community Health Care.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 12, 2011, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
