Dixie Edgerton Short, 78, Oak Circle Drive, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 6 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro, with visitation afterward.
A graveside service was held Friday, June 24, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
Mrs. Short was born in Johnston County May 22, 1933, to the late Fred and Ila Sullivan Edgerton.
She was a member of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew Jackson Short; two sons, Jerry "Wayne" Short and wife, Peggy, and Robert "Gene" Short and wife, Teresa, of Goldsboro; a daughter, Cathy Short (Jerry Maley) of Goldsboro; a sister, Pearl Stokes of Pine Level; four grandchildren, Angela Wolford, Jay Short, Stephanie Lovic and Rebekah Short; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Short.
