PIKEVILLE -- Handley T. Pate, 2356 Big Daddy's Road, went to be home with his Lord and Savior Saturday morning.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 1200 W. Grantham St. Committal will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Ever-green Memorial Cemetery, Hwy. 70 West. The Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Fred Carraway will officiate.
There will be a time of sharing with the family before the service from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall.
He is survived by his daughters, Amy P. Webber (Grant) of Goldsboro and Beth P. Hancock of Loveville, Md., and son, Mark T. Pate, Sr. (Terri) of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Austen G. Webber (Stephanie), Bryce T. Webber of Goldsboro, Leah A. Pate, Mark T. Pate Jr., Joshua D. Pate and Hannah F. Pate of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, Frank D. Pate (Edna), Brooks Pate (Annette) of Goldsboro, Handley F. "Junior," Pate Jr. (Mary) of Pikeville; sisters, Alma P. Lewis, Suzanne P. Gurley of Pikeville, Sara P. Rollins (Willie) and Linda Pate of Goldsboro.

Mr. Pate was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sarah Smith Pate, his parents, Elizabeth Irene Amerson Pate and Handley Franklin Pate Sr.
Handley was very active in his church as long as his health would permit. He had served as a deacon for 28 years and served on Faith Christian Academy Board for a number of years. He was very active in the Farm Bureau where he had served on the board. He and his brother Junior have numerous awards in their family farm operation through the Wayne County Extension Agency. Mr. Pate was retired from Antioch Fire Department with 20 plus years of service, where he served on numerous committees.
Family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Webber, 737 Dollard Town Road, Goldsboro.
