STANTONSBURG -- Adean Murphy Lancaster Poythress, 77, went home to be with her Lord and savior Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Patetown Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Wayne County to the late Tommy and Minnie Smith Lancaster.
Mrs. Poythress attended Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Patricia Wiggins (Bobby) of Goldsboro, Carla Lee (D.J.) of Stantonsburg and Tammy Bass (Tom Hill) of Clayton; a brother, Buddy Lancaster of Pikeville; a sister, Lois Rader of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Poythress was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Preston Poythress Sr.; a son, Edward Preston Poythress Jr.; two brothers, Wiley Lancaster and Norwood Lancaster; and three sisters, Wilma Poythress, Lou Ellen Lancaster and Joyce Bartlett.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, Feb. 24, 2011, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
