BOB VARNELL

LAGRANGE -- Bob Varnell, 67, LaGrange, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2011.
Bob was born July 12, 1943, in Lenoir County to the late Paul and Virginia "Dink" Baker Varnell.
Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Jacquelyn Varnell and Marie Tyer, along with a nephew, Harold Perry Jr.
Bob was a lifelong farmer. He helped many people with specialty carpentry and painting.
Bob attended White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church, and was a member of Woodmen of the World and Bucklesberry Ruritan Club.
A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
Bob is survived by the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Ruth Ellen Varnell; son, Robert Paul "Bobby" Varnell and wife, Nancy, of LaGrange; two daughters, Teresa "Terry" Barnett and husband, Lynwood, of LaGrange and Jacquelyn "Jackie" Leigh Hardy and husband, David, of Kinston; eight grandchildren, Danielle Varnell, Paul Varnell, Joshua Varnell, Katlyn Varnell, Hunter Barnett, Coy Barnett, Eric Hardy and Logan Hardy; two sisters, Jannie Holloman of Walstonburg and Paula Herring and husband, Chubby, of LaGrange; a special aunt, Hazel Baker of LaGrange; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends following the service of remembrance, and at other times they will be at the home.
