PIKEVILLE -- Tech. Sgt. Leslie "Les" D. Williams, United States Air Force, 36, passed away Tuesday while serving in Bagram, Afghanistan.
Les proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 14 years.
He was active in the Rosewood community, enjoying the opportunity to coach his children's youth baseball and football teams. For many years he served as the head coach of Rosewood Little Eagles football team, where he was a mentor to all the young boys he came in contact with.
Les will be remembered as a man of character, the kind of role model who set an example for everyone he touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Corcoran presiding. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
Les is survived by his wife, Tonya DeMent Williams; his children, Christian, Phoenix and Allyson Williams; his brother, Joshua Williams; and his sisters, Janet Williams, Mary Williams and Jessica Williams. He is also survived by his wife's family, his mother-in-law, Ann Miller and husband, Michael; his father-in-law, Kevin DeMent and wife, Kathi; his sister-in-law, Trisha Ketterhagan and husband, Keith; his brothers-in-law, Kristopher DeMent and wife, Angi, and Jason Miller; his sister-in-law, Jaime Czechorski and husband, Tony; his grandmother-in-law, Dorothy Yanke and husband, Ed; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m., followed by a wake service at 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
