MELVIN H. SHAVER

Melvin Hobort Shaver Jr., 70, of Goldsboro, formerly of Meadow Bridge, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at his home following a long illness.

Born Aug. 25, 1940, in Meadow Bridge, W.Va., he was the son of the late Melvin Hobort Shaver and the late Anna Lee Hicks Shaver Underwood.

Melvin was retired from the military with 21 years in the Army. He was a member of the Beckley Masonic Lodge and of the Holiness faith. He enjoyed walking and socializing with others.

Survivors include his wife, Anna M. Shaver of Goldsboro, N.C.; a daughter, Terri Anna Baker and husband Richard of Goldsboro, N.C.; a son, Scottie Wayne Shaver, also of Goldsboro, N.C.; and one grandson, Richard Brandon Baker, who will miss him dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Patton Cemetery in Meadow Bridge, W.Va. with Rev. Kenneth Hansard officiating.
