KATHERYNE STEPHENS

RINGGOLD, Ga. -- Katheryne Bryan Stephens, 82, Ringgold, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010.
Born in Rocky Mount, N.C., and raised in Goldsboro, N.C., she had lived in the Ringgold area for the past 13 years, but was formerly of Mount Olive, N.C.
Katheryne and her late husband, Clarence "Cleve" Cleborn Stephens, were farmers until their retirement.
As a young lady, Katheryne also had the honor of singing on the Grand Ole Opry with her sisters.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Cleve" Cleborn Stephens; parents, Martin LaFayette and Mamie Hudson Bryan; brothers, Russell and Carl Bryan; and sister, Esther Bryan Taylor.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, DeeDee and Porter Buff of Ringgold, Ga.; adopted son, Kermit Kornegay of Dudley, N.C.; brother, Leon Bryan of Dudley, N.C.; sister, Eleanor Fields of Goldsboro, N.C.; stepgrandson, Bart Buff (Shannon) of Covington, Ga.; stepgreat-grandson, Braxton Buff of Covington, Ga.; cousin, Ann Stephens Morris of Greenville, N.C.; niece, Jo Daniels (Ben) of Dudley, N.C.; nephew, Lew Childre of Boulder Creek, Calif.; and many granddogs and grandkitties.
The family would like to say a special thanks to NHC of Ft. Oglethorpe. "Words cannot express how much the family appreciates the care and kindness shown to our precious mother for the past five years at NHC in Ft. Oglethorpe. For every person that took up time with her and made her day a little brighter, we will forever be grateful. We will never forget you."
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
