FAISON -- Lonnie Franklin Thornton, 77, 309 S. Sampson St., died Sunday at home.
The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 3 p.m., after which burial will be in Faison Cemetery, with elder Phil Faucette presiding.
A veteran of the United States Army, he had served in Vietnam, Germany and Korea.
He was a member of the Mount Olive congregation of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia "Pattie" R. Thornton of the home; a son, Frankie Thornton of Greensboro; a granddaughter, Jennifer Thornton of Greensboro; and his siblings, Paul Haney and Ellen Bearden both of Reidsville, Eugene Thornton and Jerry Thornton both of Greensboro, Norwood Thornton and Virginia Cosgrove both of Mount Olive, Mildred Wilson of Indiana and Betty Whaley of Chinquapin.
A daughter-in-law, Susie Thornton; his parents, Henry Felix and Ola Clyde Thornton; and several siblings preceded him in death.
