JOYCE ELIZABETH MORLEY JOHNSON

Joyce Morley Johnson, 79, 307 Pineland Drive, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center following a lengthy illness.
Joyce was born in Jamestown, N.Y., April 29, 1931, to the late Leland Morley and Evelyn Morley. She and Ralph David Johnson were married July 1, 1950, at Falconer United Methodist Church, and they moved to Goldsboro in 1959.
Joyce was active in church activities, including choir, hand bell choir, Sunday school teaching, United Women's Circle, and anything asked of her at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Joyce was a tireless volunteer as a Girl Scout leader, III Century Singers, Community Concerts, Goldsboro Garden Clubs, Meals on Wheels, American Cancer Society and Arts Council.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. Johnson.
Joyce is survived by her brother, Dean Morley of Falconer, N.Y.; her daughters, Jody Brashear and husband, Harold, of Goldsboro and Sandra Murphy and husband, Mike, of Goldsboro; her sons, Alan Johnson and wife, Betty, of Goldsboro and Rob Johnson of Athens, Ga.; her grandchildren, Matt Johnson, Lee Brashear, David Johnson, Christine Brashear and Zack Fuller; and great-grandson, Gunnar Johnson.
A private family service will be held, and burial will be at Willow Dale Cemetery.
The Johnson family extends its deepest gratitude to Joyce's many caregivers and the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
