PIKEVILLE -- Retired Air Force Technical Sgt. Jerry Morris Forbis Sr., 74, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born in Alamance County Oct. 17, 1935, to late Willard Morris Forbis and Elaine Kidd Forbis.
He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of honorable service to his country.
Jerry also worked with Celotex and retired after 231/2 years of service.
He was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, 2010, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Todd Wiggins officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with full military honors.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Stephens Forbis; his daughter, Michelle Harris and husband, Shawn, of Pikeville; his sons, Jerry Morris Forbis Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Pikeville and Michael Edward Forbis and wife, Wendy, of Pikeville; his sisters, June Carol Whitaker, Cheryl Ann Lewis and Pam Barbee all of Burlington; and his grandchildren, Heather Nicole Forbis, Brian David Forbis, Kelli Marie Forbis, Taylor Brooke Forbis, Brett Michael Forbis, Cierra Renee Harris and Shawn James Harris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Glenn Forbis, and his brother, Darrell Forbis.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home ,and other times at his residence, 103 Sherri Court, Pikeville.
