FREMONT -- Ernest Charles Pitts, 75, 291 Old Black Creek Road, went to be with his Lord and savior Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, with pastor Barry Stallings officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Mr. Pitts was born in Guilford County Jan. 22, 1935, to the late Ernest Carl and Rosa Jeanette Garner Pitts.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the National Guard.
Mr. Pitts was a volunteer fireman for Fremont Fire Department for many years and owner and operator of Pitts Repair Service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ramona J. Pitts; two daughters, Lynn Kirby and husband, Steve, of Fremont and Betty Jean Limbaugh and husband, Mike, of Goldsboro; a brother, Earl Pitts of Nashville; a sister, Virginia Mae Stone of Aberdeen; four grandchildren, Travis and Brooke Kirby and Derek and Kristin Limbaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine St. in Fremont, and other times at the residence.
