Jacqueline Connelly Tierney, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Norris, O.S.F.S. presiding. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Jacqueline was born in Boston, Mass., to the late Richard J. Connelly and Madeline McGillivray Connelly. She was married to the late Paul K. Tierney. Jacqueline was a homemaker and was an active member at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church where she served on numerous committees and organizations.
Jacqueline is survived by her children, Madalyn Lambert and husband, Richard, of Goldsboro; Richard E. Tierney and wife, Ann, of Massachusetts; Kathleen T. Bryan and husband, John, of Maryland; Shawn Tierney and wife, Gail, of Massachusetts; sister, Frances Walker of Massachusetts; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Paul, Grant, Gerard, and Kevin Tierney; and a granddaughter, Nicole Tierney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1000 N. Jefferson Ave., Goldsboro, NC 27530, or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
The family will receive friends at the home of Madalyn and Richard Lambert, 204 Massey St., Goldsboro and following her service at the cemetery.
