MOUNT OLIVE -- Peggy Swinson King, 72, passed away peacefully at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro Tuesday evening. She was lovingly surrounded by family, friends and other loved ones when death came.
Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Christopher Turner officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. King, born in Duplin County to the late Ulysses and Bertha Brock Swinson, was a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church.
She was retired from the Duplin County ASCS office with 33 years of service.
She enjoyed working in her yard, and she especially loved square dancing and was a member of the Mount Olive Pickle Kickers. She was a loving wife, a cherished mother, mother-in-law, MeMa, sister and dear friend to all who knew her.
Her survivors include her husband of nearly 52 years, David King of the home; a son, Wayne King and his fiancee´, Pam Williams, of Faison; Pam's son, Daniel "DanDan" and his friend, Amanda, of Raleigh; two daughters, Belinda K. Holland and husband, Billy Holland, of Dudley and Dawn K. Waters and husband, Phil Waters, of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Blake King and his mother, Shelia Sutton and husband, Judson Sutton, of Calypso, Tyler, Hampton and Gabriel Hobbs; four sisters, Evelyn "Sis" (Mrs. Gordon) Malpass of Faison, Faye Taylor and husband, Elmer "Buddy" Taylor, of Mount Olive, Betty Webber and husband, Clayton Webber, of Mount Olive and Velma (Mrs. J.B.) Price of Seven Springs; two brothers, Thomas Swinson of Mount Olive and Benjamin "Bud" Swinson of Fayetteville; two sisters-in-law, Kaye Swinson of Mount Olive and Elsie Mae Whitman and husband, James, of Mount Olive; and many nieces and nephews in the Swinson and King families.
Brother, Leamon "Grey Buck" Swinson, and brother, Bobby "Ham" Swinson and his wife, Jo Ann Swinson, also preceded her in death.
Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends. At other times, they will be at the home at 922 N.C. 403 west in Mount Olive.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
A special thanks is extended to the staffs of 3-HC, Kitty Askins Hospice and also Interim Home Health for the loyal support shown during Mrs. King's last days.
