MORGANTON -- Douglas Allen Barnett Sr., 77, formerly of Goldsboro, died Thursday at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The memorial service for Douglas was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Morganton at Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Bruce Walker officiating.
Born in Baton Rouge, La., March 11, 1932, he was the son of the late John Barnett and Emma Adelia Rowan Barnett.
Douglas was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, where he was a past choir-master and organist.
Mr. Barnett is survived by his sons, Douglas Allen Barnett Jr. and wife, Janet, of Pattersonville, N.Y., and Thomas Hart Norwood Barnett and wife, Bonnie, of Morganton; and grandchildren, Johnathan DeRosa Barnett, Zachary Ryan Barnett and Charles Nichols Barnett.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lowrie Norwood Barnett, and brothers, John Barnett and Ralph Owen Barnett.
The family received friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
