Emma Jean Williams Wilson, 78, passed away Monday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
A service to remember Emma Jean will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at New Hope Friends Church, with Bill Garner and Wayne Allman officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Wilson Family Cemetery.
Emma Jean was born in Greene County Feb. 13, 1931, to the late Eddie Williams and Carrie Hill Williams. She was married to the late James Monroe Wilson.
Emma Jean owned and operated a specialty shop in Goldsboro for many years, the Quaker House. She was a member of New Hope Friends Meeting.
Emma Jean is survived by her daughter, Sandy Singleton and husband, Sherwood, of Goldsboro; her son, Jimmy Wilson and wife, Jill, of High Point; her grandchildren, Jason Singleton and wife, Maria, Tyler Wilson and Tanner Wilson; her great-grandchildren, Hayley Singleton and Jacob Singleton; and Joshua Singleton, Hannah Singleton and Hayley Dawson, who were like grandchildren to her. She is also survived by her brother, Hank Williams and wife, Louise, of Brevard.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Nan Utley and JoAnne Wyman; and her brothers, Eddie Williams and John Hill Williams Sr.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to New Hope Friends Meeting, 4451 E. U.S. 70, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at the church and other times at the home of Rachel Singleton, 1987 N.C. 111 south in Goldsboro.
