Bobbie McBroom Gabriel Hobbs McNairy, 81, passed away Sunday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James H. Harry officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.
Bobbie was born in Durham Sept. 9, 1928, to the late Robert L. McBroom and Beulah Hogan Wheeler.
Bobbie worked as receptionist with T.A. Loving Co. and retired after 22 years of service.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the J. Paul Edwards Sunday school class.
Bobbie is survived by her sons, R. Michael Gabriel Jr. of Charlotte and Gerald A. Gabriel and wife, Penny, of Clayton; her brother, Freddy McBroom and wife, Linda, of Durham; her granddaughter, Katherine Charlotte Gabriel of Durham; her stepsons, Mack McNairy and wife, Janet, of Greensboro, Jack McNairy and wife, Carolyn, of Dunlap, Tenn., Sydney McNairy and wife, Althea, of Winterville and William McNairy and wife, Libby Fasso, of Chapel Hill; five stepgrandchildren; and two half brothers, Donnie Wheeler and wife, Jeannette, and Ron Wheeler and wife, Carolyn, all of Durham.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Gabriel of 32 years, James C. Hobbs of 16 years and C. Banks McNairy of eight years; a daughter, Jeni Marie Gabriel; and a brother, Cecil McBroom.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at Seymour Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
