MOUNT OLIVE -- Laura Bell Godbold, 86, of the Summerlin's Crossroads community, died early Saturday morning.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael L. Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow in Devotional Gardens at Warsaw. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during the hour prior to the service.
A retired homemaker and farm wife, she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Annie Rose Summerlin Bell. She was the widow of J. B. Godbold and was a longtime member of the Rooty Branch Free Will Baptist Church and its ladies' auxiliary. Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Godbold was preceded in death by a son, Billy Douglas Godbold, and a brother, Leslie J. Bell.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda G. Turner and Dr. Ben Turner of Rocky Mount; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Outlaw Godbold of Raleigh; grandchildren, James Faison Turner and wife, Robin, of Danville, Va., Jeffrey Godbold and wife, Jennifer, of Leesburg, Va., Jennifer Godbold Moran and husband, Michael, of Nutley, N.J., and Christopher Godbold of Arlington, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Moran, Zoe and Ella Godbold, and Sara and Caroline Turner; and a sister-in-law, Alene Price Bell of Mount Olive; along with many friends and neighbors of the Summerlin's Crossroads community.
