LaGRANGE -- A service of love and remembrance for Preston Duane Garris, 51, was held Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Virgil Whitehurst officiating. Duane was preceded in death by a brother, Emmett Lytle Garris; his paternal grandfather, Emmett Preston Garris; and maternal grandparents, Lytle Ray Foss and Louie del Thomas Foss.
Duane is survived by his mother, Brenda Foss Garris of LaGrange; father, Preston F. Garris of LaGrange; two brothers, Joel F. Garris and Brendan Joseph Garris, both of LaGrange; two children, Joshua Duane Garris of Baton Rogue, La., and Bethany Faith Garris of Goldsboro; grandparents, Dorothy and Virgil Whitehurst of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Ethan Caleb Garris, Eli Hayden Garris, Hannah Faith Garris, Emily Hope Garris, Joshua Isaac Garris and Abigayle Grace Garris; niece, Natalie Noel Garris; nephew, Joel Franklin Garris II; a special aunt, Lorretta Layden and cousin, Aaron Ray Layden; along with special friends, Wanda Rouse and Roger Taylor.
