AMZON "ANN" M. MAYS

Amzon "Ann" Meadows Mays, 75, passed away Wednesday at Life Care Hospital in Rocky Mount.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, 117 NW Third St., Snow Hill, with the Rev. Doland Baker officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.
A native of Hurricane, W. Va., she was born April 18, 1934, the daughter of Marvin Lawrence and Pearl Lucas Meadows.
Professionally, she worked as an administrative supervisor, but her calling was with her husband in the ministry where she was a devoted pastor's wife. Along with her husband, she had served and attended Eden Christian Church outside of Snow Hill for the last several years.
Her surviving family includes her husband of more than 52 years, minister Jack W. Mays; daughters, Micky Mays Anderson of LaGrange and Debbie Mays Ogburn and husband, Kevin Bruce Ogburn, of Goldsboro; a son, Jackie Winfield Mays Jr. and wife, Ann, of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Alma M. Hicks of Maryland and Georgia M. Legg of West Virginia; a brother, Orbura Meadows of West Virginia; grandchildren, John Roy Anderson III of Goldsboro, Nicole Anderson Larranaga and husband, Bryan, of Farmville, Kevin Shane Ogburn of Greenville, Benjamin Mayson Ogburn of Goldsboro and Zachary Thomas Mays and Garrett Scott Mays both of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a great-grandchild, Andrew Bryan Larranaga.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mays was also preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Meadows.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 113 Clay Brook Drive, Goldsboro.
