Died Aug. 23, 2009
KINSTON -- Wilbur Alan Whitley 57, 2406 Hardee Road, passed away Sunday morning at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with pastor Roland Harrell officiating, with a private burial at Westview Cemetery.
Wilbur was a chef and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy O. Whitley of the home; sons, Alan Keith Whitley and wife, Stacie, of LaGrange and Brian Franklin Whitley and wife, Kimberly, of Kinston; grandchildren, Ray Bunn, Gage Whitley, Cassie Whitley and Will Whitley; brother, Kerry Arthur Whitley; mother-in-law, Pearl L. O' Quinn of Kinston; special friends, Geraldine and Felton Eubanks and Gary and Yvonne Jones; and stepmother, Cathleen Pelletier Whitley of LaGrange. Many special family members also survive Wilbur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alpheus Wilbur Whitley and Eleanor Byrd Whitley.
The family will receive friends at the church Thursday night following the funeral service and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 711 Phillips Road, Kinston, N.C., 28504.
Edwards Funeral Home of Kinston is in charge of arrangements.
