CHARLES B. MAGILL III

GREENVILLE -- Charles Boyd Magill III, a resident of Cypress Glen Retirement Community, passed away Aug. 23 at Pitt County Hospitals in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Black Chapel at First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro, with the Rev. Drew Clark officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church, and the burial will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.
Charles was born June 12, 1923, to Clara (Hinson) Magill and Charles Boyd Magill II. He spent his formative years in Goldsboro, where he lived until he joined the United States Navy in which he served until 1945.
He married Mary Jamesina "Ina" Muller July 22, 1944, in Norfolk, Va. She passed away in October 1971.
Charles worked for the Department of Defense (NSA) as an electronical engineer before his retirement. After he retired, he moved from Annapolis, Md., to Goldsboro. There he married Eleanor Griffin Sexton. Eleanor passed away in December 2003.
Charles is survived by his daughters Linda Sayre (Bill) of Coralville, Iowa, Diane Magill (Richard Dale) of Solomons, Md.; grandchildren, Byron Galentine (Andrea Bruno) of Charlotte, Kathy Sayre Labbs (Todd) of Camarillo, Calif., and Ryan Sayre of Tokyo, Japan; great-granddaughter, Veda Rae Laabs; and his sister, Margaret McCarty, and her son, Marcus McCarty (Melinda) of Abilene, Texas.
