WILLIAM R. JONES

SELMA -- William Rudolph Jones, 65, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Rudy," 23 Paris Villa Drive, his earthly life's journey ended peacefully Thursday at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield.
Rudy's life will be remembered and celebrated on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 500 South Pollock St., Selma, with the Rev. Dr. Lacy E. Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Everette Family Cemetery, 2957 Old Smithfield Road, Princeton.
"Rudy" was born in Johnston County Sept. 6, 1943, and was the son of the late Novell Jones and Charity McLaughlin Jones.
Rudy's beautiful and precious memories are treasured by his son, Anthony Pone of Selma; two daughters, Gevankco Flagg of Goldsboro and Minister Freda Y. Jones-Lewis of Charleston, S.C.; a special friend of 25 years, Kaye Frances Jackson of Selma; four sisters, Jackie Lacy and husband, Wayne, of Selma, Ranzayln Spells of Germany, Ernestine Jones of Beltsville, Md., and Soisette Farley of Washington D.C.; three brothers, Delton Jones and Bernard Jones both of Fayetteville and James Jones of Selma; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Tiffany, Corey, Evan, Isaiah and Joshua; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Waylon Jones; one sister, Wilma Jones; and one adopted brother, James Bagley.
A viewing will be held Tuesday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 5 p.m. Also, a wake will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 500 S. Pollock St., Selma, with the family present to receive other family members and friends.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lacy, 610 S. Webb St., Selma, and Kaye Frances Jackson, 23 Paris Villa Drive, Selma.
Wednesday, in preparation for the funeral procession, the family will assemble at 610 S. Webb St., Selma, one hour prior.
