Alan Ellison, 62, 113 Tilghman Drive, died Saturday at Wake Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Frasher officiating.
A native of Anderson, S.C., he was the son of the late Joel M. and Katherine Cromer Ellison, and was married to Kathy Brown Ellison.
Mr. Ellison was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a veteran of the United States Air Force with eight years of service.
He was a dedicated member of the Family Y.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ellison is survived by his daughters, Julie Ellison of Cary, Denise Cerniglia of Apex and Lisa Wilbourne of Morrisville; grandchildren, Max Goodman, Cameron Cerniglia, Helen Wilbourne, Emma Wilbourne and Nora Yechou; and brother, David Ellison of Pendleton, S.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Ellison.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times in the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in his name to the Family Y Scholarship Fund, c/o Family Y, 105 Parkway Drive, Goldsboro, NC, 27534.
