MARY A. BACKUS

Mary Ann Backus, 60, 108 Decoy Drive, Pikeville, died Thursday morning at her residence following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Gadsden, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Jack E. and Olivia Pike Musick and mother of the late Chris Backus. She was a radiological technologist and a member of Selah Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Gordon Lee and the Rev. Patrick Muston officiating.
The family will remain and visit with friends immediately following the funeral service. A committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mrs. Backus is survived by her husband, Joe D. Backus; one son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Mandy Backus of Pikeville; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Backus of Pikeville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jackie Musick of Pikeville, Jim and Jo Musick of Dudley; and two grandchildren, Kasey Ann Backus and J.D. Backus.
