LINWOOD HOWELL

PIKEVILLE -- Linwood Howell, 78, 361 Mount Carmel Church Road, died Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Hollowell officiating. Burial will follow in Pikeville Cemetery.
A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late William F. and Clemmie Roberts Howell. Linwood was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and was retired from Hevi-Duty. He served his country in the United States Army.
Linwood is survived by his wife, Esther Huffman Howell; daughter, Theresa "Terry" Lovings and husband, Barry, of Mooresville; sons, Linwood "Robbie" Howell and wife, Debbie, of Fremont, and Mark S. Howell of Pikeville; sister, Sallie Myers of Greenville, S.C.; brother, James F. Howell of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Valerie L. Fallon and husband, Zach, of Mooresville, Stephen R. Howell and wife, Stephanie, of Fremont, L. Brooke Howell and Cassie F. Howell of Pikeville; and a great-granddaughter, Kaleigh B. Howell.
In addition to his parents, Linwood was preceded in death by a son, Brent J. Howell.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2830 Antioch Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and will be at the residence at other times.
