James "Jim" Lathan Brewer, 62, formerly of Mount Olive, died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Revs. Patrick Muston and Ronnie Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Brook Grantham, 3200 Stevens Mill Road.
He was the son of the late Bradford and Ethel Sutton Brewer. He attended Unity Baptist Church, and retired from Burlington Industries after 24 years of service.
Mr. Brewer is survived by two daughters, Teresa Brewer Grantham and husband, Brook, of Grantham and Wendy R. Thornton of Pikeville; five grandchildren, Lisa Brewer, Lindsay Smith, Taylor, Adams, Kayla Adams, and Hunter Grantham; two brothers, Phil and Brent Brewer; several nieces and nephews; and a special little friend, Ashley Williams.
