GREENVILLE -- Mr. Leander Wooten, 75, of 107 Greenridge Road, Snow Hill, departed this life Saturday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, to enter into eternal rest.
Mr. Leander was born to the late Amos Wooten and Pearlene Thompson Wooten on July 1, 1933. Also, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Dorothy Plummer and Toni Garrett.
Wooten leaves to cherish his memory his wife of the home, Retha Wooten; one son, Arthur Wooten of Goldsboro; one stepson, Robert Thompson of Greenville; three daughters, Veril Jean Clark of Snow Hill and Nancy Carolyn Smith and Dorthea Williams, both of LaGrange; one daughter-in-law, Maisy Wooten of Goldsboro; one stepdaughter-in-law, Annie Thompson of Greenville; one son-in-law, William Clark of Hugo; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two brothers, James Wooten of Snow Hill and Nathaniel Wooten of Grifton; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Holy Temple Miracle Tabernacle, 524 Guthrie Turner Road, Snow Hill with Pastor William Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Mill Cemetery, 1104 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro. A viewing will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James Street, Goldsboro. Also, a wake will be conducted from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the resident of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wooten, 219 Orral Drive, Goldsboro.
