Helen Southerland Grant, 89, a native of Goldsboro, N.C., died Thursday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Gerald Grant Sr. and her son, Larry Grant of Wilson. A homemaker, she was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She served many years on the Altar Guild, was a charter member of the Friendship Sunday school class and member of the United Methodist Women Society. She was also a licensed pilot.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Thurman Horney officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Mrs. Grant is survived by her son, Gerald Grant Jr. and wife, Sandy, of Goldsboro; and her daughter-in-law, Anne Grant of Wilson. She is also survived by her six nieces, Barbara Griset, Carol Tarry, Susan Helton, Lynne Perkins, Kay Hines and Carol Coddington; her brother-in-law, Thurston Grant and his wife, Menville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
