L.D. NEWSOME
Died March 17, 2007
L. D. "D-Bird" Newsome, 92, formerly of Eureka, died Saturday at Britthaven Nursing Home of Goldsboro. He was born to the late Will and Frances Artis Newsome.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Eureka, with the Rev. Odell Forte officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner Swamp Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Coley Holden of Fremont; grandchildren, Quanta' Holden of Durham and Shanika Holden of Fremont; a devoted cousin, George Artis of Goldsboro; and guardian Haywood Waters of Forestville, Md.
Viewing will be today from 2 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, Goldsboro. Wake will be from 6 to 7 p.m. with the family present to receive family and friends and at other times at the residence of Nona S. Fuller, 802 S. Vance St., Fremont.
