LEVON S. GARDENER

GREENSBORO -- Levon S. Gardener, 62, 3 Kings Forest Court, formerly of Wayne County, died Saturday at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Gardener Davis.
Mr. Gardener was retired U.S. Navy and a recipent of Fifth Good Conduct Award, Veteran Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbon (Third Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Mount Zion Seventh Day Adventist Church, Parkstown. Burial will be at Old Mill Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Davis Gardener of the home; sons, Lee Cord and Christopher Gardener, both of Georgia, Edward Jorge of Greensboro, Kevin Marcellus, Levon Simon and Christian Vaughn, all of Greensboro; sister, Christie Gardener of Washington, D.C.; 14 grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Minstries. Family will receive friends at other times at 700 Longleaf Drive and will assemble there Friday morning in preparation for the funeral.
