Mrs. Audrey Bartlett Fleming, 75, of 123 Wheeler Drive, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Monday, February 19, 2007 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her loved ones.
Mrs. Fleming was born in Wayne County on March 12, 1931 to the late Milton Bartlett and Esmond Wiggs Bartlett. She was also preceded in death by the mother that raised her, Mamie Bartlett. Early in life, Mrs. Fleming worked as an operator with Southern Bell Telephone Company for eight years. Once becoming a mother, she enjoyed the blessing of being a homemaker and professionable seamstress. She was a charter member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served as the Sunday school director for 44 years in the children's primary department. Mrs. Fleming was an avid gardener, but her greatest love was God, family, children and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Christian Powell presiding and Pastor Dann Patrick officiating. Interment will be held Thursday at 11a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by her loving husband of almost 54 years, Robert Lindsay Fleming; her devoted daughters, Wanda Fleming Parker and husband, Larry, of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Leah Fleming Perry and husband, Macon, of Bahama; and her precious grandchildren, Brianne Parker, Nathaniel Parker and Laci Perry. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Bartlett of Pikeville; her sisters, Shirley Bedford of Goldsboro, Esther Rose Gardner of Pikeville and Evelyn Hines of LaGrange; her brother-in-law, Archie Rose of Wilson and her sister-in-law, Pat Bartlett of Milwaukee, Wis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Bartlett and her sister, Grace Rose.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 1200 W. Grantham Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends Wednesday in the fellowship hall of Faith Free Will Baptist Church from 5 to 7 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at 123 Wheeler Drive, Goldsboro.
