FRANK D. BARFIELD

FAISON - Frank D. Barfield, 72, 359 Bradshaw Crow Road, died Thursday at his residence. He is the son of the late McInnis and Iretta Barfield and is survived by his wife, Joyce Daniels Barfield, of the home. He was a farmer and truck driver. Mr. Barfield was a U.S. army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 109 in Benson. He played baseball for the Milwaukee Braves, and also was a woodworker and golfer. Mr. Barfield was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Marie Best Barfield, and a granddaughter, Olivia Marie Barfield.
Funeral services were Saturday at 2 p.m. at Faison United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chad Pullens and the Rev. Betty Daniels Marshall officiating. Burial followed in Wayne Memorial Park. The family is receiving friends at the home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by sons; Frank Daniel Barfield and wife, Loretta, of Mount Olive and Joshua Bennett Barfield and wife, Jenny, of Mount Olive; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Howard and husband, Mike, of Princeton; a brother, Boyd "Bunny" Barfield and wife, Janice, of Mount Olive; a sister, Ada Margaret Roberts and husband, Guy, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Lora Lee Ann Barfield, Daniel Blake Barfield, Savannah Marie Barfield, Morgan Elizabeth Barfield, Joshua Cyler Barfield, Haley Nicole Lane, and Ann Marie Howard.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Faison U.M.C. building fund.
Arrangements are being handled by Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory.
