JOHN E. FIELDS

John Edward Fields, 56, of Winder, died Thursday.
Born in Goldsboro to the late Hughie G. Fields and Blanche K. Fields, he was a Baptist and retired from AT&T after nearly 33 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Jones Fields of Winder; a daughter, Karen Elizabeth Fields Pearson; two brothers, Donald G. Fields and Billy R. Fields, both of Goldsboro; six sisters, Carol Lewis, Alice Summerell, Janie Swartz and Phyllis Currin, all of Goldsboro, Wanda King of Avon and Rose Marie Coats of Faison; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday at 2 p.m. at Smith Memory Chapel, with the Rev. Donnie Pennington officiating.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 2452 Spring Road, Smyrna, Ga. 30080.
