MOUNT OLIVE -- Gwendolyn Oliver Prather (Pete), 66, the daughter of Ethel Carlton Oliver and the late James A. Oliver Sr., died Thursday at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Va.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Katie Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Park.
Mrs. Prather was employed as a technician with Verizon in New York City for 33 years and moved to Petersburg, Va., upon retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Prather of Petersburg; her mother, Ethel Carlton Oliver of Mount Olive; one son, Keith Marcelle Oliver Sr. of Bronx, N.Y.; one grandson, Keith Marcelle Oliver Jr. of Petersburg; one sister, Linda D. Oliver of Mount Olive; and one brother, Larry D. Oliver.
Viewing will be at the church prior to the funeral from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Family will receive friends at the home of her mother, Ethel Oliver, 210 W. Pollock St., Mount Olive.
