EMMA N. HAVERKAMP

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Emma Norbruis Haverkamp, 86, died from complications of pulmonary fibrosis at the home of her daughter in Tobaccoville.
Mrs. Haverkamp was born in Hoogeveen, the Netherlands, the daughter of Burgemeester Obbe Norbruis and Treintje Keegstra.
Funeral services will be Friday at 4 p.m. at Parkway Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem by the Rev. Daniel Wilkers and the Rev. Jonathan Freeman. Interment will be private
Mrs. Haverkamp was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving at various times as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and circle leader. She was a member of the League of Women Voters and the Women's Committee of the National Symphony Orchestra.
She moved to Tobaccoville in 2002 where she became a member of the Parkway Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Allart D. Haverkamp; her brothers, Jan, Obbe, Hessel and Dirk Norbruis and a son-in-law.
She is survived by her sister, Jis Lubach-Norbruis of Havelte, the Netherlands; her sons John Haverkamp of Goldsboro, and Obbe Haverkamp of Greensboro; her daughters, Careen Haverkamp Wallace of Dunkirk, Md., and Trinette Haverkamp Kirkman of the home. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
