MARILYN M. WIGGINS

Marilyn Marie Wiggins, 77, of Marietta, Ga., died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital following a battle with cancer and various other health problems.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Joyner's Funeral Home of Wilson. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park with Pastor Alan Gibson officiating.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church, Marietta, Ga., where Miss Wiggins was a member, at a future date.

Miss Wiggins was born in Greene County to the late Bennie Richard Wiggins and Mattie Pennington Wiggins. She attended local county schools, graduating from Fre-mont High School in 1947. Following graduation, she moved to the Atlanta area and attended Georgia State University.

Miss Wiggins worked and retired from the Hartford Insurance Agency and the Atlanta Home Transportation Agency. She was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying fishing, collegiate football and baseball, Braves baseball and baseball card collecting.

She is survived by five sisters, Rose Chamlee of Wilmington, Evelyn Lamm of Wilson, Swanell McLawhorn of Kinston, Fanettie Whichard and husband, Goodman, of Pikeville and Reba Mitchell and husband, Jimmy, of Goldsboro; and a dear friend, Helen Bixler Richardson and her family, among many other close friends.

Miss Wiggins loved life and people and she was dearly loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret Aycock and Nancy Hill, and her dear friend and housemate of 35 years, Anna Maude Bixler.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of Brenda Evans, 930 Brookside Drive, Wilson.

Flowers are welcome or memorials in her memory may be directed to New Hope United Methodist Church, 700 New Hope Road, Marietta Ga., 30067.
