JOSEPH E. GARNER JR.

Joseph Eldridge (J.E.) Garner Jr., 53, of 119 Bett Drive, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior Friday after fighting a courageous battle with a lengthy illness at Duke Medical Center.
J.E. was born in Biloxi, Miss. to Joseph E. Garner Sr. and Florence Garner of Mount Olive. He was employed with Woodard's Radiator for 15 years and with Carolina Turkeys for 12 years. J.E. enjoyed the beach and was an avid fisherman.
J.E. had a strong love for his family which was shown in his commitment and devotion to his wife of 18 years, Elizabeth (Lib) Limbaugh Garner. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a brother, Tony Garner; his mother-in-law, Betty Limbaugh; his brothers-in-law, Jimmy Limbaugh, Mike Limbaugh and wife, Betty Jean; his nephews, Derek Limbaugh and Travis Garner; his nieces, Kristen Limbaugh and Stacy Garner; his aunt and uncle, LuJene and Buddy Merritt; his cousin, Chris Merritt; his special friend, Paige Ham; and several other family members.
A service to celebrate the memories of his life will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barry (Bubba) Stallings officiating. Burial will follow in Pikeville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Holland, Greg Willoughby, Chris Merritt, Derek Limbaugh, Michael Limbaugh, and Jimmy Limbaugh.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Lee Limbaugh Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Susan and J.O. Lively and his paternal grandparents, A.E. and Lucy Garner.
