ZEKE COX

Aug. 6, 1935- Oct. 11, 2006

Ezekiel (Zeke) Micajah Cox, 71, of 1921 N. Berkeley Blvd., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Zeke was born in Johnston County to the late Cornice Cox and Louise Westbrook Cox. He was a retired truck driver with R & L Carriers with 11 years of service and had also retired from Thurston Motor Lines with 32 years of service.

For those who knew him, Zeke will be remembered as a generous, caring, compassionate man and loyal friend to so many. The love in Zeke's life was God, family and friends. Even during his illness he never gave up or let go of his firm belief in the power of prayer. Zeke's determination to let it be God's will was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be missed by many. Zeke was a faithful member of Brogden United Methodist Church. While serving at the church, he had served as superintendent, sang in the choir and volunteered as the grounds keeper. He was a member of the Goldsboro Men's Prayer Breakfast Group and the Wayne County Farm Bureau, and was a past member of the Woodmen of the World. Zeke served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

A service to celebrate Zeke's life will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Brogden United Methodist Church with Pastor Shirley Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Zeke's love and support of friends was only surpassed by his devotion and commitment to family. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Brinson Cox; his daughter, Jerri Leigh Cox Bilodeau and husband, Gerald of Bunn; his son, Jimmy Cox and wife, Cathy of Arapahoe; his grandchildren, Amber Cox, Alisha Cox, Brian Cox, Ashleigh Bilodeau and Christal Bilodeau; his sister, Katherine Lee of Prince George, Va.; his brothers, Cornell Cox and wife, Jane of Smithfield, Jerry Cox and wife, Nicky of Bentonville, and Gene Cox and wife, Mary Kay of Bentonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Brogden United Methodist Church Building Fund, Attn.: Pastor Shirley Ward, 2918 Highway 117 South, Dudley, NC 28333 or the American Cancer Society, 930B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
