GLADYS T. GARRIS

LAGRANGE -- Gladys Tyndall Garris, 79, 749 Piney Grove Road, died Wednesday at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
A service to celebrate her life will be held tonight at 7 at Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Dorman officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Garris was born in Wayne County to the late Hubert and Viola Westbrook Tyndall. She was a devoted homemaker with a great love for her family.
Mrs. Garris is survived by her husband of 62 years, J. Melvin Garris; three children, James Melvin Garris Jr. and wife, Sandra, of LaGrange, Gerald Edward Garris of LaGrange and Dianne Garris Cianfarra of LaGrange; two brothers, Dr. H.D. Tyndall of Goldsboro and Carl Haywood Tyndall of Roseboro; sister, Doris Lancaster of Pikeville; five grandchildren, Nick Cianfarra and wife, Angie, Denise Brown, Don Garris, Brian Garris and Kevin Whitley and wife, Cindy; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight following the service and at other times they will be at the home.
Arrangements are being handled by Rouse Funeral Home of LaGrange.
