Ruth Saunders Hughey of Elizabethtown Ky., died Sept. 7 at the University of Louis-ville Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Survivors include a son, John Hughey, and his wife, Barbara, of Goldsboro; a daughter, Patricia H. Bewley, and her husband, Gary; sons Willie P. Hughey Jr. and Michael Hughey and his wife, Anna, all of Elizabethtown; a sister, June S. Little, and her husband, Gary, of Fairmont, W.Va.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie P. Hughey; a daughter and son-in-law, Marguerite and Jimmy Thompson of Elizabethtown; her parents, E.M. and Laura Saunders; and two brothers, Gene Saunders of Fairmont, W.Va., and Emmor Mitchell Saunders of Praireville, La.
Mrs. Hughey was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star No. 174. She was a former longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was retired from the Hardin County Board of Education Media Center, and until her death, had volunteered 30 years at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Visitation was 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorial gifts be directed to Severns Valley Baptist Church or to the Ladies Auxiliary at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky. 42701.
