SARAH CASEY

Sarah Windsor Casey, 83, of 609 Casey Mill Road, died Friday at her home.
Born in Reidsville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Oscar F. and Lola Britt Windsor, and sister of the late Freeman Windsor. Her father died before she was 3 years old. In late 1932, the family moved to Wayne County where her mother married the late James A. Srader. They lived on what at was then known as the Cobb Hill Farm. She graduated from Brogden High School in Dudley as the valedictorian of her class.
Mrs. Casey worked at S&H Kress in Goldsboro before being employed at the GE Plant in Goldsboro for 21 years. She also worked at Wayne Hardwood and S&S Grocery on Arrington Bridge Road, and was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. tomorrow at Emmaus Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Sasser officiating. Burial will follow in Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Casey is survived by her husband of 64 years, Sam C. Casey Jr.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis P. Casey, of the home, and James Neal and Connie Daniels Casey of Dudley; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Frances and Luby H. Byrd Jr. of Mount Olive; four grandchildren, Kelly S. Byrd of Mount Olive, Craig S. and Beth Hunter Byrd of Goldsboro, David Casey and Amie Casey, both of New York, N.Y.; a special friend, Norman Millard of Nashville Tenn.; three sisters, Wilson Olah of Daytona Beach, Fla., Lena Utterback of Lake Helen, Fla., and Lola Waters of Kinston.
Flowers are welcome, however the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Emmaus Baptist Church, 714 Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, N.C. 28333.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
